The world seems to be facing a period of dramatic change with the international economic turmoil caused by the financial crisis and new viruses emerging threatening the survival of life forms. In the art world too, pop art that has incorporated subculture such as anime and manga and has been a leading force now seems to stagnate and no other new forms of expression are emerging. Media art too has not taken the main stage in contemporary art despite technological developments.
A new generation of artist who will construct the coming era of contemporary life must however be awaiting their moment. This exhibition has been organized to seek those new talents to let them flourish.
Kazuki Akiyoshi creates pinhole cameras with metallic barrels to take life size photographs, while Takehiro Kudo produces objects with artificial skin and Makiko Furuichi presents video works of stunning freshness.
These artists are yet to perfect their for of expression but it is because of this that they suggest a great potential that may open new roads for the future of art.
