"Summer Museum for All Ages: Art Everyday!!" Exhibition

Museum of Modern Art, Gunma
Finished
"Summer Museum for All Ages" is an exhibition held during summer vacation for children and adults to enjoy art together. This installment introduces up-and-coming three individual artists and one artist unit who all find art in daily life and attempt to redefine its meaning and value by thinking outside the box.

Yusuke Asai boldly transforms a role of space by employing masking tapes, pens and clay. Taisuke Abe will be working on site during the exhibition, changing an exhibition room into a unique, relaxing space with his reproduction of Picasso's painting composed of pieces of fabric. Taro Izumi's video installation presents humor and inaccuracy hidden within ordinary scenery and human behavior with his keen sensibility. Artist unit Kosuge1-16 (Chishino Kurumada, Takashi Tsuchiya) presents a huge soccer board game entitled "AC-GM5 -Athletic Club Gunmano Mori Room 5".

Works on view in this exhibition give the viewer an opportunity to rediscover his or her own "everyday" out of the chaotic world today comprised of the mysterious, beautiful, absurd and wicked.

See exhibition website for details on related events.
