Isamu Sakamoto, Michiko Ishikawa
This is a two person photo exhibition by young up-and-coming artists Isamu Sakamoto and Michiko Ishikawa. Sakamoto was born in 1979, Ishikawa in 1986. After dropping out of the photography department at Nihon University, Sakamoto studied under Hajime Honda while exhibiting his work at various exhibitions. His work possesses both an energy that captivates the viewer, as well as an overt sense of dubious sensuality: it evokes in the viewer both a hesitation to approach it, and a desire to look more closely.

Ishikawa, on the other hand, just graduated from the video department at Musashino Art University in March this year. While still a student she showed her work proactively in a number of exhibitions. Ishikawa's portraits are notable for their strikingly dynamic compositions and a fresh, breezy sense of humor. Her camera seems to have the ability to magnify the vitality that overflows from people and everyday things.

This is the first photography exhibition to be held at Art Center Ongoing. The title "Genko" stems from the sense of luster and radiance that the works of these two photographers exude.
