Kazuyuki Takishita
Kazuyuki Takishita is a Western-style painter who shares certain traits with nihonga painters - the settings of his paintings are all in Japan, and he works with acrylic on wooden board. He "wants to create paintings that take his viewers' impressions and prod them to expand in an interesting direction".

His representative work "Portrait of Momotaro" offers viewers a lively depiction of the daily lives of demons and monsters on the mythological island of Onigashima. The work inspires not just thoughts of fear and power, but also a subtle humor that comes from the charming narrative being played out in the painting. Momotaro, who ought to be the eponymous hero of the painting, does not even make an appearance - a fact that Takishita uses as another material to stir up the impressions and expectations of the viewer.

Working with prints for the first time, Takishita will exhibit pieces with a Momotaro theme, his life work. He personally took charge of all the printing production processes, and chose here to make his prints in the shape of a "momo" (peach). On display and for sale are works with new motifs including 30 newly-produced pieces.
