VOCA is an established showcase of 2D works by artists under 40 on the recommendation of curators, journalists and researchers from all over Japan. This year's 16th installment features 35 artists, 6 of which won prizes.

While there are only a few photo and video works, many participating artists committed themselves to the process of "depiction" this year. Their firm resolve to return to pictorial art delivers a clear message to viewers of their work.
