Ryoko Kido
Ryoko Kido completed her graduate studies at Musashino Art University in 1984 and moved to New York to study at New York University in 1986. After returning to Japan in 1994, she started a printmaking atelier with printer Hitoshi Kido, continuing to support the work of many artists connected to the workshop from an artist's perspective while pursuing her own work as an artist as well as organizing many exhibitions.

Kido works mostly with tempera and oil painting, creating work that places much emphasis on the beauty and delicate nuances of her chosen materials. Her freshly-colored world is full of lush flowers, gentle winds and warm smiles, where heaven and earth mix freely, as if human beings have managed to escape their bodies to become free souls. Her works induce a sense of deja vu, as if one is being confronted with a scene from a past dream.

This exhibition features works painted at her atelier, situated within the artists' village at Kobuchizawa, at the foot of Mount Yatsugatake.
