This year, which marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of the port of Yokohama, Musashino Art University (Department of Industrial, Interior and Craft Design) and custom furniture design shop Orihinuk are holding this collaborative exhibition.
At a time when highly sophisticated Japaneseness is being lost due to an influx of foreign culture and lifestyle, this exhibition attempts to provide the viewer with an opportunity to reacknowledge Japan's vernacular culture through design, as well as to contemplate new lifestyle possibilities in Yokohama, the birthplace of Japanese furniture as well as a creators' destination.
