"Architect Tokyo 2009" Exhibition

Gyre Gallery
Finished
This exhibition of works by architects is organized by five of Tokyo's leading internationally-oriented contemporary art galleries. While works of contemporary art continue to be collected and preserved, there are still few research-oriented public bodies or institutions in Japan that are dedicated to exhibiting artworks. In the same way, architectural models and diagrams are simply discarded without being circulated abroad or properly archived. Featuring important architectural materials and models, this exhibition hopes to convey something of the uniqueness of contemporary Japanese architecture, while also providing an opportunity for considering the current state of archiving and conservation of architectural resources in Japan.

Participating galleries: Tomio Koyama Gallery, Taro Nasu, Gallery Koyanagi, hiromiyoshii, Taka Ishii Gallery, and Aoyama Meguro.
