Yasuto Masumoto has been exhibiting actively in solo and group exhibitions since 2004, mainly in the Tokyo area. He works in a variety of media such as photography, video and installation, devoting himself to the observation of everyday phenomena as well as our skepticism of them. His work derives from this acerbic point of view, bringing a bitter taste to our mouths though he alleviates it with a sort of warm humor.
"Delicate Tongue" is an installation focusing on new performance works that will be publicly recorded at the opening party for this exhibition. On the first day of the exhibition, in addition to the video recording of the reading of an identical text by several performers, the video of the ongoing performance will be projected at the same time on the wall of this gallery. By using the technique of public recording, Masumoto instantaneously renders in video form all the responses of his captive performers and audience members alike.
The intersection between these two actions - performance and recording - and the projection of our movements onto a neighboring wall allows the audience to confront their own sense of bewilderment and confusion at the proceedings.
Performance: July 4th 20:00- (about half an hour long)
*The performance will be the recording for the video installation that will be exhibited from the next day.
