"Cubist Architecture and Design in Czech 1911-1925 - Chochol, Gocar, Janak" Exhibition

LIXIL Gallery 1 & 2
Finished

Artists

Josef Chochol, Josef Gocar, Pavel Janak
Cubism was the art movement that occurred in the early 20th century, pioneered by Picasso and Braque. The Czech Republic is the only country where the movement also influenced its architecture and gave birth to avant-garde cubist architecture centered around Prague. Young architects who reacted against Modernist rationalism were the ones who contributed to the establishment of Cubist architecture. Through works by Josef Chochol, Josef Gocar and Pavel Janak, this exhibition introduces historical masterpieces of Czech Cubist design.
