Masaki Komoto "Ma de Yureru"

Guardian Garden
Finished

Artists

Masaki Komoto
Komoto won the Grand Prix at the 30th graphic art Hitotsubo open call exhibition last April. This exhibition is the culmination of a year of work created since then.

Komoto uses crocheting needles and lace to create abstract patterns that seem to proliferate endlessly. His method is based on traditional knitting techniques combined with fresh and innovative arrangements. While repeating patterns, Komoto thinks hard about the progress of the work, although the eventual form of the piece is often something completely unexpected. Komoto's unusual approach to knitting sweeps away existing presuppositions of the medium in pursuit of unique, sometimes sublime forms and color combinations.
