Yusuke Saito uses a pen tablet to drawn delicate portraits full of the vitality of youth. His fashion and portrait illustrations are rendered in vivid colors that are almost photographic in their clarity and attention to detail. His motifs, however, are composed out of lines and surfaces in such a way as to make them appear like icons of a sort, creating an impact unobtainable from photography and turning these images into sublimations of contemporary youth.
With their unique sense of color, combinations of small objects within his chosen motifs, and sharp design sense that transcends pop imagery, Saito's work has won him numerous clients including Music Magazine.
This exhibition features his new works, as well as selected commissions from recent years, featuring not just portraits, but also graphic collages of still lifes.
