Masaki Yamashita Exhibition

Gallery Hashimoto
Finished

Artists

Masaki Yamashita
Yamashita first creates physical objects to be the subjects of his paintings, and then photographs the process as he works on the painting. Obsessed with the idea of having his work available to be viewed at all times, he creates photo books documenting his process.

This exhibition showcases Yamashita's most recent series, "Photograph Drawing," in addition to oil paintings that he has been working on since his school days. On display are three types of order-made books as well as a handmade book, and wood carvings that were created for his paintings.

Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1972, this is Yamashita's first solo exhibition, in which the gallery space has been configured to look like a private living space.
