"Seasonal Delights" Exhibition

Hara Museum ARC
Finished
Japan's four seasons exhibit a wealth of difference in their natural phenomena, which usher in the approaching spring, summer, fall or winter. The keen sensibilities that are alive to the shifting seasons have long been enshrined in the images found within the lines and epithets of Japanese waka poetry, as well as the paintings of famous scenery that are tied to them, such as "tsukinami-e", a genre of painting that depicts the natural scenery associated with each of the twelve months of the year.

This exhibition showcases a number of modern paintings that introduce viewers to the pleasures of late autumn and early winter landscapes. In addition, in recognition of this year marking the final run of exhibitions at the Kankai Pavilion, a number of paintings featuring festive New Year and astrological motifs will be on display as well.
