Sayo Nagase
Sayo Nagase regularly creates photographic work for fashion and culture magazines and CD covers. What is most fascinating about these photos is their ability to share a dense experience of time with viewers while also coming to life in front of them with a level perspective. This trait was leveraged most effectively in her photo collection "Through The Looking Girl" from 2006, which meticulously captured a group of girls at the same stage of maturity, latching on to their sense of youthful vivacity as expressed through the simple act of inhaling and exhaling.

This exhibition represents a step forward for Nagase - instead of describing her subject or tracing its story, she aims to capture its reflections and reverberations that bounce off it, hence the title "Mid-air Reflection." By coming up against one's surroundings, a form of self-knowledge is arrived at through that interaction and response. It is this floating sense of mid-air suspension that one becomes sensible to the act of living.

On display is a "self-remix" of past photos including those of rock band "The Back Horn," whose live performances Nagase has been following and capturing on film; and large and small landscapes and still lifes.
