hpgrp Gallery Tokyo is pleased to present new works by Maiko Kobayashi in the first exhibition after her return from Newcastle, U.K. Kobayashi produces paintings depicting creatures that resemble dogs, sheep or even human beings. Clearly meek, those creatures stand silently without giving the viewers much information that would allow them to understand their emotions. The attempt to get a better understanding of this however, leads viewers to understand that what is important is not to read the emotional state but to directly feel the presence of these creatures without polluting it with simplistic information.
