Daisuke Sumita
It is only recently that Sumita committed himself seriously to oil paintings. While he did attend the oil painting course at Musashino Art University, he only painted rarely, spending his time on theater, reading and writing scripts and novels. His decision to apply himself to painting may have sprung from the need to express a world that cannot easily be reduced to the precision of language. His paintings are in fact difficult to grasp and are endowed with a sense of being adrift. The titles borrowed from poets in other languages such as Wordsworth do not lead directly to a facile understanding; instead, they emphasize the different layers of meaning and the myriad of possible interpretations that sprung from the combination of motifs. This is a unique chance to see the latest works of this talented artist whose potential remains undefinable.

The entrance fee includes entry to the Verner Panton exhibition.
