The University Art Museum - Tokyo University of the Arts
Finished
13 amamonzeki temples remain today in Japan's former capitals of Kyoto and Nara. Amamonzeki were temples with particular spiritual values whose members were women who came from royal or noble families, and constitute a valuable part of the cultural heritage of Japan. This exhibition introduces the traditional culture that was cultivated within these temples with a particular focus on the lifestyle and faith of the nuns of the Kaisan and Chukyo temples.
