"Snow Scenery Depicted in Ukiyo-e" Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Ota Memorial Museum of Art
Media: Prints
As the term Setsu-getsu-ka or snow-moon-flower used to describe the beautiful things in nature, Japanese people took pleasure in snow as creating beautiful scenery that made the seasons more colorful. In the Edo era, this culture became particularly pronounced as the designation of some places for yuki-mi (literally "looking at snow") attests. This exhibition will present such scenery loved by people in the Edo era through ukiyo-e prints by masters of that time.
