Edwina Hörl
NOW IDeA by UTRECHT is pleased to announce an exhibition of the new book, Untitled, by the Austrian fashion designer Edwina Hörl, who launched her own brand in 1996 after working as an assistant to Yohji Yamamoto.

Untitled, is inspired by the same-named fashion collection, a visual translation of her passion for flea markets. A combination of raw photographs taken by Jens Preusse in the Viennese market Naschmarkt and images of this collection taken by Seiji Shibuya in Tokyo, Untitled is a multi-cultural reflection on the themes of what makes fashion and clothes. A definite space of inspiration for a designer such as Hörl intrigued by the habits and symbols of everyday life, a flea market is also a library of worn-already, loved-already clothes. Through her work, Edwina Hörl questions the speed of this never stopping mainstream fashion market in which nothing is never new enough. Whether cheap, or high-end commodities, they usually reach the flea market sooner or later, creating the possibility for this parallel market to survive. This parallel flea market, beautiful in its own distortions of plastic bags and clothes, is the topic of exploration behind Edwina Hörl’s latest book, Untitled, art direction and graphics by so+ba.

Plastic bags, meaningless things, old things, accumulation, looseness, discovery- adopting these aesthetics and methods of the flea market, at NOW IDeA, clothes will be presented in stacks on the table, a video work, by Jens Preusse, will be shown on a monitor installed in between the stacks, and Hörl's book Untitled will be stashed in the store's shelf.

On March 21st (Sat), NOW IDeA and Hörl will host a reception party, as well as an exchange flea market in NOW IDeA's balcony "NOW SKY", where people can get clothes from a pile made on the balcony in exchange of the old clothes they bring in.
