Since his first solo show in 1998, Mitsuhiko Sasao has been holding a "landscape with flowers" exhibition every year at Bunkamura Gallery. His 10th solo show held 2 years ago featured works from all his popular series in one place, offering a comprehensive retrospective look at Sasao's career. The 11th show held last year presented works in which he tackled a completely different approach - paintings of traditional ikebana flower arrangements on canvases that had been dyed red, realized through a collaboration with the head of the Ikenobo ikebana school. Sasao has also been holding solo shows of his work at 5 branches of the interior store Idee, as well as the Shizuoka branch of Isetan.

This is the 12th edition of Sasao's "landscape with flowers" exhibition. In addition to still lifes and paintings of interiors, works from his new "The Shelf" series of still lifes, set in his own atelier located in Azumino city, Nagano, will be on display.
