Sori Yanagi Exhibition

Finished

Artists

Sori Yanagi
Leading Japanese Designer, Sori Yanagi (1915-). He has continuously advocated the importance of design in modern-day Japan. After a repetition of experiences (workshops) by hands, designs start moving from a concept to reality. Shapes made through a process of quiet dedication do not disappoint the user. Also, the fact that the maker does not put his name upfront and sticks to anonymity provides a flexibility that blends into our daily life. Yanagi’s designs cover a lot of ground, including home furniture, cutlery, stationery, and public facilities. By following the designing process, taking a look at valuable documents like plans and prototypes, we will try to get closer to Yanagi’s thoughts. In a world filled with goods, we hope that this exhibition will be a clue for looking at the essence of these things.
