Contemporary Art Center, Art Tower Mito presents 'Contemporary art is just easy as pie.' from Saturday, 29 August to Monday, 12 October 2009. This exhibition introduces visitors to explore contemporary art through artworks (photography, painting, installation etc.) by leading artists from around the world.
The exhibition suggests the diverse ways of interpretation to approach artworks - based on themes (mother nature, landscape, and human figure), mystery-story narrative way, and through various gallery tours. We invite elementary and middle school students in Mito city using 'Art Bus' prepared by Art Tower Mito to explore the show with guiding staff members.
This exhibition has been developed alongside with the people of Mito. Young artist group Nadegata Instant Party (Toru Nakazaki + Daisuke Yamashiro + Tomoko Noda) has been shooting a new film entitled "The Last Exhibition by Curator A" in the gallery space, Mito city and SenbaLake. The film invited casts and staff collected from people of Mito and its story is linked to the contents of the show. It will be screened in the gallery during the exhibition period. This exhibition will be a chance to visualize the relationship between art and people through contemporary artworks.
