Campo Baeza
Campo Baeza is an architect based in Madrid who has undertaken a range of architectural projects mainly within Spain. Baeza's work is characterized by simple box-like facades and interiors equipped with skylights, high windows and glass-walled penthouses, creating sublime spaces filled with the intense light that is distinct to Western Europe.

In Japan, Baeza is known for several orthodox Modernist works such as the Caja Central Headquarters (Granada, 2001) and the De Blas House (Madrid, 2000). However, information on his work has hitherto been limited. This is the first exhibition in Japan to give a comprehensive overview of his work, featuring large sketches from a sketchbook that Baeza always carries around with him. In addition to introducing viewers to the origins of his architectural philosophy, an installation incorporating the light that symbolizes so much of his work will be placed in the gallery, equipped with rich visuals from his past representative buildings and works currently in progress.

In conjunction with this exhibition, Gallery Ma is organizing a lecture by Baeza on June 26th and publishing a collection of his works (forthcoming from TOTO publishing).
