"Shippo: Japanese Cloisonne -A World of Color and Exquisite Detail-"

LIXIL Gallery 1 & 2
Finished
Shippo -Japanese Cloisonne- is often likened to jewelry. The technique was used around the world from ancient times including Japan where it has been used to decorate architectural parts, furtniture and tools. During the Meiji era, its sophisticated skills and sensuality captured the imagination of an international audience giving rise to a fashionable interest in Japanese culture.

This exhibition will showcase shippo works of masters such as Yasuyuki Namikawa, as well as presenting the development process of the intricate technique.
