Takeshi Kainuma
Takeshi Kainuma was born in Tokyo in 1962. First he was a disciple of Yoshitane Nakamoto, and later moved to the U.S. in 1996. He spent 8 years in New York, absorbing what the city had to offer and confirming a direction to follow as a photographer. During this time, many of his works captured nature.

"Kind of Blue" consists of significant works chosen from Kainuma's earlier series of photographs. Pablo Picasso's "Blue Period," Miles Davis' "Blue in Green," and Dostoevsky's last full-length novel "The Brothers Karamazov" were the sources of his concept for this exhibition. He was not merely inspired by these works, but rather, compared ideas he felt sympathy for with his own in order to trace the roots of his creation. "Blue" is the color he sees himself in as well as a symbol of pain in life. Kainuma finds a momentary beauty in the darkest and deepest blue, which he aims to capture eternally.
