Tomomi Mizutani is a young ceramicist based in the Hida Takayama region. Her earthenware has enjoyed popularity not only among ceramic art fans but also young people who favor simple Japanese lifestyles.
"Certain lifestyles have continued and been perpetuated since ancient times. I want to give the memories of these human activities a concrete shape - in the form of tools that have been used for a long time," says Mizutani. Her work harbors a sort of mysterious energy that comes from memories that reside in the innermost recesses of our minds.
