"Monet and the Artists of Giverny: The Beginning of American Impressionism" Exhibition

Bunkamura Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Claude Monet, Theodore Wendel, Pierre Bonnard et al.
In his later years, the Impressionist master Claude Monet moved to the small village of Giverny, where he also kept an atelier. Starting in the mid 1880s, several American painters also moved there, which marked the beginnings of Giverny’s colony of artists. This exhibition focuses on a selection of Monet’s paintings, in addition to the work of these American artists who would later contribute to the rise of American Impressionism.
