Artists

David Adjaye
David Adjaye is one of the world's most exciting young architects. Born in Tanzania, Adjaye's work incorporates and reflects numerous influences ranging from the vernacular art and culture of his home country, contemporary art and music, and the traditional teahouse architecture of Japan, where he spent time as a student. His buildings are characterized by bold manipulations of material, color and light that create varied sequences of spatial experience.

The theme for this exhibition, Adjaye's first in Japan, is "light and cities." Showcased here are examples of his early representative buildings and his most recent projects, introduced through architectural models, diagrams and photographs.
