Art Front Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Takako Hojo, an Osaka-based artist who will be showing in our gallery for the first time.
In 2006, she was invited to join the residency program at the Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki where she started to depict the greenery around her. In the last few years, she has progressively changed her style, using these same landscapes as motifs to focus more on the light itself surrounding the landscape. As the artist has expressed in her words, one can feel an outpouring of invisible light in her work that seems to surge from nature and life. She has actually shifted to the depiction of things that cannot be seen, which is consistent with her earlier abstract work.
