"World of Trick Art" Exhibition

Sompo Museum of Art
Finished
Our eyes play tricks on us; we overlook things; we see what we want to see. These things happen on a daily basis. Art which focuses on the uncertainty of what we see has existed in all ages and cultures in forms such as illusionism, and the methods of creating such art are carried on even today. A variety of unique optical tricks can be seen in the illusions of op art and light art of the 1960s, the photorealist paintings of the 1970s, and the parodies of classic works of the 1990s.

This exhibition, centered on the collection of the Takamatsu City Museum of Art, introduces viewers to a variety of trick art that challenges our visual perception and stereotypes.
