"The 63rd Dentsu Advertising Awards" Exhibition

The Ad Museum Tokyo
Finished
The Dentsu Advertising Awards were launched in l947 when Hideo Yoshida became the fourth president of Dentsu. Though it was only two years after the end of World War II, Yoshida already had a vision of Japan emerging into a free market society with an emphasis on the industries that help enrich people’s lives. He believed that advertising would serve as a force that united the economy, culture and people’s lives. It was also his belief that advertising itself should belong to the genre of the forerunners of culture and he devoted his energies to the improvement of the social and cultural status of the advertising industry.

At the behest of Hideo Yoshida and support extended by various people in advertising and media circles, the Dentsu Awards were launched as the first advertising awards in Japan. By celebrating advertisers engaged in outstanding communication activities, over the years the Awards have not only reflected social trends, but also signaled social changes in advance.

Today, we are witnessing dramatic changes in marketing communications, including the area of advertising. Please come and see the winning works of the Dentsu Awards, which were decided by a large independent panel of judges, and find out where advertising is heading.
