Kazuo Kitai
Zen Foto Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of photographs by Kazuo Kitai. Kitai made his name in the 1960s and 1970s with a series of landmark photographic works that include “Teiko” (Resistance, 1965), “Sanrizuka” (1971) and “Mura-e” (To the Villages, 1980). For this last work he received the inaugural Ihei Kimura Prize in 1976.

In 1973 he was invited by Ihei Kimura to accompany him on a visit to China. These photographs of Cultural Revolution-era China have finally been published in book form. We are pleased to announce this exhibition of prints coinciding with the publication by Zen Foto of “Kitai Kazuo in China, 1973”. This exhibition will also be taken to Zen Foto Beijing, 10 Sep – 3 Oct 2010.
