"Calico Prints from Around the World" Exhibition

Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum
Finished
Calico print textiles that feature hand-drawn or stenciled patterns can be found in several countries around the world. This simple-looking but versatile fabric, however, is extremely delicate and can only be produced using a complicated set of procedures. This exhibition showcases dyed calico cotton products from India, Europe, Russia and Africa that reveal regional differences in aesthetics and production methods.
