This event has ended.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the Japan-German Treaty this year, this exhibition showcases a collection of ukiyo-e woodblock prints from the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg, which opened in 1877. On display are 200 works of ukiyo-e, most of which are being exhibited for the first time in Japan. In addition to famous works by Suzuki Harunobu, Kitagawa Utamaro, Tōshūsai Sharaku, Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige, there will also be many rare materials like Kyōgōzuri (print proofs), Hanshita-e (final preparatory sketches drawn on paper), Gakō (sketches) and Hangi (woodblocks).
