"Swiss Design Award" Exhibition

Spiral
Finished
From November 12th through the 28th, the Swiss Design Award Exhibition showcases the best of current Swiss Design at Spiral Garden (SPIRAL 1F). This award, which has been given out once every two years since 1989, will be exhibited in Japan for the first time.

On the occasion of the Swiss Design Award Exhibition in Spiral Garden (SPIRAL 1F), a symposium on Swiss Design will be organized by the Embassy of Switzerland and the Society-Academy Collaborative Research and Education Center (SACRE) at Aoyama Gakuin University, in collaboration with Tokyo Wonder Site (TWS). The aim of the symposium is to introduce the quality, specificity and tradition of Swiss design to a Japanese audience.

The symposium showcases Swiss design in the broadest sense and includes a presentation by Heidi Wegener, curator of the Swiss Design Award, film screenings as well as a panel discussion on Swiss design with internationally acclaimed Swiss designers Claudio Colucci, Frédéric Dedelley, Daniel Freitag and as well as the renowned Japanese designer Kenya Hara, moderated by Yusaku Imamura, Director of Tokyo Wonder Site. The symposium also features one of the most talented upcoming Swiss designers today: Colin Schaelli, winner of the Swiss Design Award 2009 in the Newcomer Category and Creator-in-Residence at Tokyo Wonder Site in November 2010.

The "Genuine Swiss - Swiss Design Symposium" is part of the "Aoyama Commons" Creative Festival (November 20th-27th 2010), and will be announced in the official festival program.
