The Shiseido Gallery is pleased to announce Tsubaki-kai Exhibition 2010, which is slated to run from April 10th through June 13th, 2010. The “Tsubaki-kai” is an artistic exhibition group that has functioned continuously for over sixty years, changing its membership over time with each iteration, to become one of the Shiseido Gallery's most representative and cherished events.
The Sixth Tsubaki-kai, formed in 2007, is comprised of six artists: Yasuko Iba, Chiharu Shiota, Masanori Sukenari, Kyotaro Hakamata, Naofumi Maruyama, and Miwa Yanagi. The members of this group, notable for featuring some of the youngest artists ever in the Tsubaki-kai's history, have been taking turns exhibiting together in combinations of four, with the lineup changing partially each year.This staggered approach has been adopted to boost the sense of creative tension within the group while also keeping its activities fresh and vital. This exhibition, the last for the Sixth Tsubaki-kai, will bring together displays of new works by all six participating artists. This event will certainly generate a distinct synergy brought about by three year's worth of artistic endeavor and aesthetic exploration among these artists, and the Shiseido Gallery invites all to come enjoy
the results!
