Yoko Ando "Portraits: Quiet Light"

LIXIL Gallery 1 & 2
Finished

Artists

Yoko Ando
Yoko Ando paints portraits that depict only the faces of her subjects, backlit or bathed in strong reflections, giving off a radiant halo. Painted on silk fabric, the pigments she uses seep deep into the canvas, making the outlines of her figures extremely faint, as if the viewer were looking at them through a pane of wet glass.

This solo exhibition, Ando's first in Tokyo, features 10 works including her most recent pieces.
