"Bijinga" (portraits of beautiful women) are one of the main genres of ukiyo-e woodblock prints from the 19th century. They took as their subject popular women from the Edo period as well as historical figures and well-known women from stories and legends. This exhibition features a selection of these works from the collection of the Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts, as well as pieces on loan from the Chiba Museum of Art by artists such as Utamaro Kitagawa, Eishi Chobunsai and Eisen Keisai.
