Artists

Yumeji Takehisa
The Taisho-era Romantic painter Yumeji Takehisa had a longstanding interest in artistic and ornamental styles that were popular in contemporary Europe and a particular fondness for Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs, leaving behind a body of work that represented his own unique interpretations of these styles. This exhibition showcases a variety of small paper works including chiyo-gami (a uniquely Japanese craft that was used for origami, clothing, handmade accessories and cosmetic cases), book bindings, posters and more.
