This Eikoh Hosoe exhibition is comprised primarily of photographs of Auguste Rodin sculptures taken at the Musée Rodin in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. It is the first exhibition in the world of images from this series of Hosoe photographs. The works are printed on Japanese paper and that medium’s characteristics are put to good use in presenting the images in physical forms (accordion-fold picture scroll and hanging scroll, four-panel folding screen, etc.) that interact with the gallery’s distinctive circular exhibition space to more authentically communicate the photographer’s impressions of the world.
