Manika Nagare
Yuka Contemporary is pleased to present "Bouncy Manner", a solo exhibition by Manika Nagare. The exhibition will run from October 10th to the 30th.

Manika Nagare was born in 1975 and graduated from Joshibi University of Art and Design. Starting with "VOCA 2000" (the prize known as the gateway to success for young painters), Nagare has been showing both within and outside Japan, including an Artist-in-Residency Program through the Japanese Government Overseas Study Program for Artists (NY), Pola Art Foundation Grant in 2004 (NY, Turkey), “VOCA 2006”, “Special POLA Exhibiion : New and Rising Artists 2006”, “Outstanding Rising Artists Exhibition” (Sompo Japan Fine Art Foundation), and many others. She will participate in the "DOMANI 2010" exhibition to held at the National Art Center, Tokyo in December 2010. Her recent activities include workshops and collaborations with artists in other genres, in addition to producing oil paintings.

Nagare has been working on abstract paintings created by capturing the image of someone she walked past on the street, wondering what could be going on in their life. Her first solo show at Yuka Contemporary features 13 works inspired by the idea of "a new gallery where the surface of the river sparkles and the trees rustle".
