"Edo Miyage: A Selection of Ukiyo-e Works" Exhibition

Chiba City Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Hokusai Katsuhika, Sharaku Toshusai, Harunobu Suzuki et al.
The multicolored ukiyo-e woodblock prints known as "azuma nishiki-e" were a symbol of Edo mercantile culture (as opposed to the high culture of Kyoto), and were enormously popular as gifts and souvenirs for those who lived in the countryside. This exhibition, held in conjunction with the Jakuchu Ito "Another World" exhibition, showcases over 60 well-known ukiyo-e works by artists like Utamaro and Sharaku.
