The "Tofu Oyako" series of figurines aimed at adults made a splash back in the late 1990s with their unconventional choice of motif. Devil Robots sparked a new craze for "yuru-chara" figures, and followed the tofu kids up with the hit Kubrick and capsule toy figures, breathing new life into the toy industry.
This exhibition is an attempt to unravel the myths behind Devil Robot toys and to understand them as works of art. On display are key toy collections, hand-drawn rough sketches that formed the basis for manga and anime based on these toys, as well as various goods and products for sale.
2nd installment in Gallery Speak For's "History" series.
