"Commemorating 400 years between The Netherlands and Japan" Exhibition

This year marks the 401st year since the Tokugawa Shogunate issued a license that permitted trade between Holland and Japan. After this treaty was concluded, cultural products and goods began to flow into country via Holland, the only Western country that was granted permission to trade with Japan. This exhibition traces the influence of the Dutch East India Company on Dutch-Japanese relations and history from the 17th through 19th centuries, the mutual influence of the two countries on each other's arts, crafts and more.
