"Using and Learning about Wood" Exhibition
This event has ended.
The history of research into Japanese wooden architecture is a long-suffering one. As a result of a huge typhoon off Ise Bay in 1959, the Architectural Institute of Japan embarked on an initiative to fireproof Japanese buildings and reduce the number of wooden structures that were particularly vulnerable to fires and flooding.
This exhibition features the results of various research projects conducted on the feasibility of wooden architecture, including an outdoor installation, award-winning projects, wooden materials, structures and more.
