Shohei Mori "White Porcelain Ship - Ocean Voyagers"

LIXIL Gallery 1 & 2

Artists

Shohei Mori
Shohei Mori's previous work consists of a large body of paintings that depict the Seto Inland Sea where he was born and raised. Over the course of studying the lives, history, culture and vernacular landscape of the area, he became increasingly fascinated by the relationship between the ocean and the ships and people that depend on it for a living. This exhibition showcases an installation that consists of a fleet of over 500 white porcelain ships with a soft gleam, just like the sunlight that falls on and reflects off the surface of the ocean.
