Maiko Kasai
Maiko Kasai was born in Aichi prefecture in 1983. She graduated from the Kanazawa College of Art majoring in oil painting in 2007, and completed graduate studies at the same school in 2009. While still a student, she won the Shell Art Prize for young emerging artists in 2008. Kasai's paintings possess a unique sense of dynamism created by her flowing brushstrokes and bold compositions. On display at this exhibition in a series of works that vividly depict young girls carrying hoses and other weapons, occasionally accompanied by newborn calves.
