Kuno Gonschior
Conceptual abstract color painter Kuno Gonschior was one of the prominent students of the influential German informel painter Karl-Otto Goetz. Amongst his other students were Gotthard Graubner, Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Polke. Gonschior's first one-person show was in 1962, after which he kept showing his works at many solo and group shows including Documenta 6 in 1971. He played an important role in the history of German contemporary painting as a conceptual abstract color painter and his works are housed in many major collections. Lately he has come to be recognized as one of the most important contemporary painters in Germany. This is Gonschior's first solo exhibition in Japan.
