The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum is housed in the former Prince Asaka residence, built in 1933. This magnificent building is decorated in the Art Deco style that swept across Europe from the 1910s-30s. Even the minutest corners of the museum have been painstakingly adorned with beautiful Art Deco ornament.

The second edition of this open house event invites members of the public to view the spectacular Art Deco interior of the former Prince Asaka residence. On display are artworks and various furnishings from the former imperial home, personal effects, photographic documents as well as other archival materials. The beauty of the architecture and interior will be enhanced using light, sound, video and a host of other effects in order to highlight their full splendor.
